Hi, I’m Mathew Whitehouse from West Bromwich, UK — I’m an intercity coach driver & former HGV driver, adventurer with a passion for travel, exploration, and giving back. Whether it’s on the road, climbing a mountain, or raising funds for a meaningful cause, I’m always chasing the next challenge.
Currently, I work as an intercity coach driver for National Express, where I travel city lines across the UK. My job takes me through bustling cities, serene countryside, and everything in between, allowing me to experience the beauty and diversity of the UK firsthand. Meeting people from all walks of life and being part of their journeys makes every day on the road rewarding.
Before National Express, I spent 8 years as an HGV driver for WSH Logistics, covering thousands of miles across the UK and much of Europe. From navigating scenic routes in Scotland to busy highways across France and beyond, I gained a deep appreciation for the art of the road. These years not only shaped my skills but also fueled my love for travel and adventure.
My passion for the open road extends far beyond my work. I’ve explored countless destinations across the UK and Europe, building incredible memories and a deep connection to the places I’ve visited.
Im on a mission close to my heart. I’m raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, an organization that has profoundly impacted my life. They provided exceptional care and support to my niece and a close friend’s child during critical times, leaving an everlasting impression on me.
Through Action Challenge, im taking on fundraising challenges that requires not just physical and mental strength but also a commitment to fundraising and raising awareness. Documenting my preparation and journey on my blog allows me to share my story, inspire others, and highlight the amazing work Birmingham Children’s Hospital does every day.
Outside of work and fundraising, I’m someone who thrives on new adventures, whether it’s discovering a hidden corner of the countryside, pushing myself physically, or finding new ways to make a difference in the world. My philosophy is simple: embrace challenges, appreciate the journey, and leave a positive impact wherever possible.
