Hi, my Name is Mathew Whitehouse from West Bromwich, UK. I’m an intercity coach driver, former HGV driver, with a passion for travel, the open road, & making a difference.
I currently drive for National Express, operating intercity routes across the UK. From busy city centres to peaceful countryside routes, my job gives me a front-row seat to the beauty & diversity of Britain & the chance to meet people from all walks of life every day.
Before this, I spent 8 years as an HGV driver with WSH Logistics, covering thousands of miles across the UK & Europe. From the winding roads of the Scottish Highlands to motorways through France & beyond, I developed not just my skills behind the wheel but a deep appreciation for the journey itself.
Im on a mission close to my heart. I’m raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital, an organization that has profoundly impacted my life. They provided exceptional care and support to my niece and a close friend’s child during critical times, leaving an everlasting impression on me.
Through Action Challenge, im taking on fundraising challenges that require not just physical & mental strength but also a commitment to fundraising and raising awareness. Documenting my preparation and journey on my blog allows me to share my story, inspire others, & highlight the amazing work Birmingham Children’s Hospital does every day.
My philosophy is simple: embrace challenges, appreciate the journey, and leave a positive impact wherever possible.
