My name is Mathew Whitehouse, and I’m taking on some of the UK’s and Africa’s most demanding walking, hiking and endurance challenges to raise money for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, helping support the incredible work they do for children and families across the region.
What started as a personal challenge has grown into a long-term fundraising mission. Over the coming years, I’ll be tackling mountains, long-distance trails and major endurance events, all with one goal in mind — making a real difference to the lives of sick children and their families.

I am aiming to raise £30,000 for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity by 2030 through a series of self-funded adventure and endurance challenges.
Every challenge is completely funded by me, meaning 100% of donations made through my JustGiving page go directly to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
I do not accept cash donations or donations to my personal bank account.
A Commitment to Transparency

Birmingham Children’s Hospital provides world-class treatment and care for thousands of children and young people every year from across the UK.
The charity helps fund life-saving equipment, groundbreaking research, specialist facilities and support services that make a huge difference to children and families during some of the most difficult times in their lives.
By supporting Sponsor Matty, you’re helping support the incredible work carried out every day by Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa) Challenge
My goal is to reach the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) using every official route:
UK Mountain Challenges
I will also be summiting the three highest and most iconic mountains in the United Kingdom:
These challenges will help build my endurance and mountain experience while raising awareness and funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895m)
One of the biggest challenges on my journey will be trekking to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, standing at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level.
Using the Lemosho Route, I’ll spend several days crossing rainforest, moorland, alpine desert and arctic summit conditions before reaching the Roof of Africa.
Coast to Coast Walk
Walking from St Bees on the Irish Sea to Robin Hood’s Bay on the North Sea, crossing the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors.
Land’s End to John O’Groats
One of the UK’s ultimate endurance challenges, walking from the south-western tip of England to the northernmost point of mainland Scotland.
This journey will cover hundreds of miles through England and Scotland, showcasing some of the country’s most spectacular scenery while raising funds for Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity.
Every challenge, every mile walked and every summit reached is about helping children and families who rely on Birmingham Children’s Hospital.
Whether you’re following my journey, sharing my story or making a donation, your support helps Birmingham Children’s Hospital continue providing life-changing care, treatment and support to children across the region.
Together, we can make a real difference.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, helps Birmingham Children’s Hospital continue supporting children and families when they need it most.
100% of donations go directly to Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity via JustGiving.
